immediate and long term impacts after a disaster. Describe the basic principles of disaster
behavioral health, and explain best practices for both the immediate and long-term behavioral
needs and considerations. Recognize the difference between trauma and grief, and identify the critical elements involved in the emotional impact and recovery (i.e., spiritual, cultural, field of practice, etc.). Recognize the warning signs for trauma exposure and techniques for self-care

incident (such as acts of violence, suicide, a natural disaster, organizational trauma, and so on). Based on the SAMHSA 8 core actions of Psychological First Aid, PFA is an evidence-informed modular approach to helping individuals in the immediate aftermath of a
disaster or act of terrorism, to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning
